Looking for the next generation of audit professionals

13 November 2014
  • Interested in applying to be part of our 2015 Audit Trainee Programme?

This intense, yet rewarding, programme is looking for astute, determined, self-motivated and creative team players to contribute to our dynamic and progressive organisation.
Successful applicants will develop new skills and gain knowledge from a variety of audit work relating to a cross section of public bodies. Trainees will study towards a professional accountancy qualification and membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales [Opens in new window].
This scheme is fundamental to securing the future generation of auditors across Wales and it will allow us to continue our work, as a public sector watchdog for Wales.
The programme started in 2007 and we currently have 13 trainees in post at various stages of their development. One of which is our year 1 trainee, Caitlin Smith:

"The function of the Wales Audit Office in ensuring accountability for public money is particularly pertinent at the moment and I am keen to take advantage of the opportunity to be part of such rewarding work. Everyone has been very welcoming and there is always somebody happy to help me with any questions.

Caitlin’s advice to anyone interested in applying:

"Make sure you understand what studying towards a professional accountancy qualification entails so you can demonstrate your enthusiasm to manage the balance of work and study."
