Drainage Board failed to act properly
Fundamental failures show that Gwent-based board was poorly managed, says Appointed Auditor

Caldicot and Wentlooge Levels Internal Drainage Board lost sight of the fact that it was a public body which existed not to serve its own ends but those of the people who live and work on the Gwent Levels, says the Appointed Auditor in a public interest report published today.
The report highlights that for many years the Drainage Board was governed and managed ineffectively, and was unable to demonstrate that it has always spent public money wisely. The Board also acted unlawfully on occasions, with some staff and members acting in a way which is likely to undermine public confidence.
