The Governance and Accountability for Local Councils: A Practitioners Guide 2008 (Wales) has been jointly issued by One Voice Wales and the Society of Local Council Clerks. The Guide has been prepared in response to the need for a clear statement on ‘proper practices’ for both day-to-day practitioners and auditors, internal and external. It is a guide to the accounting practices to be followed by local councils, and sets out the appropriate standard of financial reporting to be followed.
Last issued in 2003, practitioners responses have helped develop and update the publication to include guidance on recent regulations as well as a range of other helpful information.
