Gwent Police Authority is ‘performing well’ and in strong position to improve further

Gwent Police Authority is ‘performing well and is in a strong position to further improve’, according to a new report released today by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) and the Wales Audit Office

Inspectors found that Gwent Police Authority had initiated ambitious and wide ranging reforms to improve police performance and deliver high quality policing services to the people of Gwent. They were instrumental in establishing collaborative working with other authorities and forces in Wales to improve effectiveness and value for money.     

Gwent Police Authority comprises 17 members (9 councillors and 8 independent members), and is responsible for securing an efficient and effective police force for Gwent and holding the Chief Constable to account.
