Any action in relation to absence management is likely to provide benefits. The optimum benefit is achieved if organisations adopt the whole system and ensure that it is sustained, so that sickness absence management is embedded into routine management reporting at the highest level, and included in individual managers’ performance reviews.
While it is possible to pick out a melody with the fingers of one hand on a piano and claim to be making music, the full orchestra will give a much richer performance. Music making is purely for entertainment. Full use of the range of methods at your disposal for absence management, properly co-ordinated, will make for a better organisation.
