Models of occupational health provision

There are a number of ways of providing occupational health services. A Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development�s survey in 2004 found that:

54% of employers contract with a external provider:

18% use an in-house occupational health service;
17 % employ an in-house occupational health professional; and
just over a quarter of organisations buy-in the services of an occupational health provider as and when necessary.

Note: some of these organisations use more than one form of provision.
