The Association employed four estates assistants to provide a front line service on their larger estates.
The estates assistants ensured that communal areas were maintained in good condition, carrying out cleaning, graffiti removal and minor repairs, and that other relevant staff were notified at an early stage of any issues arising. They also monitored the performance of external contractors, such as window cleaners and landscape gardeners. The Association had encouraged the estates assistants to build positive relationships with residents, and to act as a local source of basic advice and assistance on estate management and the Association generally, and to provide support and assistance to new tenants in particular. Contact with residents on site indicated that the estate assistants were greatly valued by residents, and that they played a key frontline role, providing ready, local access to the Association's services.
