Auditor General for Wales resigns
03/02/2010
Jeremy Colman has resigned from his post as Auditor General for Wales.
Jeremy Colman stood down from the office of Auditor General for Wales following an internal review around matters of personal conduct, which were then refered to the police. His resignation has been forwarded to the Queen by the National Assembly for Wales which is now taking steps to nominate an interim successor until a permanent replacement can be found.

The appointment process for Jeremy Colman’s successor will be handled by the National Assembly for Wales’ Public Accounts Committee and will be formally appointed by the Queen.

In the meantime, the Wales Audit Office Executive Committee will remain responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation.

  • Its mission is to promote improvement, so that people in Wales benefit from accountable, well-managed public services that offer the best possible value for money. It is also committed to identify and spreading good practice across the Welsh public sector.
