The Auditor General has updated the National Assembly’s Audit Committee on the progress of the Welsh Ambulance Service – ahead of its next session on 11 March, at which the Committee will take evidence from senior figures responsible for the delivery of ambulance services in Wales.
Performance at the ambulance trust has significantly dipped since June 2008 for a number of reasons - which include patient handover times at some accident and emergency departments increasing demand, financial pressures, slow progress with some business cases and progress with the Human Resources and cultural agenda which has been compromised as operational pressures have grown.
