Auditor General publishes Annual Improvement report on Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority

28/01/2011

The Auditor General for Wales has today published a new report on Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority looking at how well the Authority is improving its services.

The Annual Improvement Report has been prepared by the Wales Audit Office (WAO) on behalf of the Auditor General for Wales. It asks if the Authority:

• is well managed
• is looking after the National Park
• is helping people to enjoy and understand the National Park; and
• knows what it needs to do to improve

The report focuses on the Authority's own priorities for improvement, setting out what the Authority needs to do to improve its services. Each year the WAO is set to produce a report looking into what progress the Authority has made.

The WAO wants to find out what you think of the services the Authority is providing in your area and will be giving you an opportunity to comment in the future.

A copy of the full report, a summary of its findings and the Corporate Assessment on this Authority is available on the Wales Audit Office's website.

Notes to Editors:

• The report has been prepared by the Wales Audit Office on behalf of the Auditor General for Wales as required by the Local Government (Wales) Measure 2009. The Auditor General for Wales assesses the compliance of Welsh improvement authorities (county councils, county borough councils, national park authorities and fire and rescue authorities) with the improvement requirements of Part 1 of the Local Government (Wales) Measure 2009.
• The Wales Audit Office is independent of government and is responsible for the annual audit of some £20 billion of annual public expenditure.
• Its mission is to promote improvement, so that people in Wales benefit from accountable, well-managed public services that offer the best possible value for money. It is also committed to identify and spreading good practice across the Welsh public sector.
