image of Jeremy ColmanJeremy Colman’s early career was spent in the civil service: in the Civil Service Department where he became private secretary to the Head of the Home Civil Service; and in the Treasury where he played a leading role in the privatisation of British Airways and of the British Airports Authority. In 1988 he moved to the private sector, first as a Director of a major investment bank (County NatWest), and later as a partner in Price Waterhouse, based in Prague as Head of Corporate Finance.

In July 1993, Jeremy switched back to the public sector, joining the National Audit Office (NAO) as director of privatisation audit, and where he became an Assistant Auditor General in January 1999.

Jeremy Colman was unanimously recommended by the National Assembly for Wales for appointment as the first full time Auditor General for Wales in November 2004 and was formally appointed to the position by HM the Queen with effect from 1 April, to coincide with the creation of the Wales Audit Office (WAO). As head of the WAO, he oversees the annual audit of some £19 billion of taxpayers’ money.


Image of Gill LewisGill Lewis is a Partner with the Wales Audit Office responsible for audit and VFM projects. She is also responsible for ‘Conduct and Counter Fraud in Wales’.

Her background is in health finance where she held a number of positions in financial and management accountancy in South Glamorgan and Mid Glamorgan Health Authorities. She then joined the Audit Commission in 1988 and has held a number of the posts until the present time including the audit of ambulance trusts. She has a particular interest in trying to improve the areas of financial management, ethics, governance and fraud and corruption in the public sector.

Gill is an economist with a degree from Cardiff University. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and previous Chairman of CIPFA in Wales. She  is committed to delivering high quality work which will add value to the public sector agenda in Wales.

image of Rob PowellRob Powell is a project manager on performance audit work within the Wales Audit Office.  Rob’s primary experience has been in producing national performance reports and has worked extensively, but not exclusively, in the health field.  His recent reports in the health area include NHS Violence, the contract for out-of-hours GP services in Cardiff, NHS Waiting Times and improving Day Surgery in NHS Wales.  Rob was previously employed by the Legal Services Commission and Cardiff County Council, and holds an MBA and first-class honours degree in History. 


 

Jackie Joyce is a Performance Specialist in the Corporate Governance and Strategy Team. She has been involved in many reviews including corporate culture, performance management, attendance management, resource management and energy efficiency.  Jackie was previously employed by the London Borough of Redbridge and has a BSc (Hons) degree in Geography and is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.

Lucy Evans is a principal auditor working mainly on financial audits with the Wales Audit Office. Lucy joined District Audit in 1997 as a psychology graduate and since qualifying as a CiPFA accountant in 2002 has led financial audit teams in Local Government and the NHS. Currently Lucy leads the financial audit of a national pathfinder NHS organisation and two National Parks Authorities.

Martin Gibson is a performance specialist whose background is in local government having worked for the then Cardiff City Council and Vale of Glamorgan Council in total for 15 years. He has also worked for the Audit Commission for 4 years before transferring to the Wales Audit Office in April 2005. Martin specialises in performance and data management. He has worked on joint projects with the Local Government Data Unit and Estyn and holds a BSc (Hons) in Business Information Systems.
