'Making Public Money Count'

Making money count moneybox imageThe creation of the new Wales Audit Office, under the direction of the Auditor General for Wales, provides Wales with a comprehensive audit and inspection service across a wide range of public services.

The Wales Audit Office provides assurance about the proper stewardship of and accounting for the publics’ money, whilst also contributing to the improved delivery of public services in Wales.

In addition to bringing the existing powers of its predecessor organisations together, the new Wales Audit Office has many new and enhanced abilities. These are explained more fully in About our work .

The National Assemby for Wales has recently published Regulation and Inspection of Public Service in Wales, a report which refers to the work of the Wales Audit Office in the wider context of regulation and inspection.
