Shared Learning Webinar
Building back better’ for future generations

How public bodies can use the sustainable development principle to guide their recovery planning.

About this event

More about this event

In May 2020 the Auditor General and Future Generations Commissioner published their first statutory reports under the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015. These reports describe how public bodies across Wales are applying the Act and what they need to do to improve. You can view the Commissioner’s report here and the Auditor General’s report here

In 2020, it’s clear that public bodies are facing even greater challenges than when the Act was introduced. As they try to address the medium and longer-term impacts of the pandemic, they will also need to continue in their efforts to tackle the climate crisis and entrenched inequalities, while at the same time responding to the risks and opportunities of the UK’s departure from the European Union.

During this event we will explore how the Act, and the learning from our two recent reports, can help public bodies develop the necessary long term, collaborative responses to these complex and interconnected challenges.

During the event, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Hear from Adrian Crompton and Sophie Howe about how you can use the findings and recommendations in their respective reports to improve how you apply the sustainable development principle.
  • Explore how and why the sustainable development principle should be at the heart of your recovery planning.
  • Learn more about how others are taking a long-term approach to recovery planning that reflects the sustainable development principle.

This 90-minute on-line event is for senior leaders in public bodies across Wales.
