We look forward to welcoming Adrian Crompton to the role of Auditor General for Wales, following today’s news that Assembly Members have voted in favour of his nomination during Plenary.
This means that the recruitment process moves to its final stage, which is formal appointment by Her Majesty the Queen.
Adrian Crompton, who works as Director of Assembly Business at the National Assembly for Wales, will replace the current Auditor General, Huw Vaughan Thomas, when he retires in July.
Auditor General for Wales, Huw Vaughan-Thomas said today: “I’m pleased to hear that Adrian Crompton’s nomination has been passed for approval by the Queen. I am looking forward to engaging with Adrian and colleagues to ensure a smooth transition when I hand over the reins in July. I wish Adrian the very best with what is a privileged, challenging, but exciting role in Wales.”
Isobel Garner, Wales Audit Office Board Chair, said today: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming Adrian to the role in the summer. I’m confident that Adrian will build on Huw Vaughan Thomas’s legacy and will continue to transform external audit in Wales so that it makes a real difference to public services and people’s lives.”
